Resumen de Vinculação aos pais e imagem corporal em jovens universitários

  The second half of 20th century shows increased prevalence of eating disorders in adolescents and young adults. Developmental challenges at these ages tests the capacity to deal with dialectic between autonomy/dependency, in a Western world full of contradictions and pressures for excellence in all areas, as living in permanent exposure; the image of the body seeming to take itself the representation of the value of the person. This study evaluates relations between attachment to parents and body image in 424 College students (18-25 years old); significative relations between some of the attachment’s dimensions and body satisfaction, and concern for the body, were found. Results are discussed in light of attachment developmental models.

  A segunda metade do século XX assiste ao aumento de perturbações alimentares em jovens. Os desafios desenvolvimentais põem à prova a dialética entre autonomia/dependência, num mundo ocidental cheio de contradições e pressões para a excelência, como se se vivesse em constante exposição; a imagem do corpo parecendo assumir-se como representando o valor do sujeito. Este trabalho avalia relações entre vinculação aos pais e imagem corporal, em 424 universitários entre 18-25 anos; mostrando relações significativas entre dimensões da vinculação aos pais e a satisfação e preocupação com o corpo. Os resultados são discutidos à luz dos modelos da vinculação.
