    Based on bibliographical sources and authorial references, this article has as purpose to gather reflections about the main characteristics of the contemporary society and their implications on the teaching and the formation in Public Relations. It analyzes the digital communication and the challenges for the formation and the professional practice. It presents a brief report on the National Guidelines of the Degree Course of Public Relations in Brazil. And, finally it highlights the need of an including and integrated formation of professionals that will act in the field of the communication in the organizations and in the building of relationships with the public opinion and the society.

    Com base em fontes bibliográficas e referências autorais, este artigo tem como propósito reunir reflexões sobre as principais características da sociedade contemporânea e suas implicações sobre a docência e para a formação em relações públicas. Analisa a comunicação digital e os desafios para a formação e a prática profissional. Apresenta um breve relato sobre as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais do Curso de Graduação de Relações Públicas vigentes no Brasil. E, por fim discorre sobre a necessidade de uma formação abrangente e integradora dos profissionais que vão atuar na gestão da comunicação nas organizações e nos relacionamentos públicos com a opinião pública e a sociedade.
