    Les Belles-Sœurs est une pièce de théâtre de Michel Tremblay écrite en 1965 à Montréal. La langue et la culture sont très marquées, ce qui lui accorde un caractère très local; elle était avant considérée comme non exportable, même dans la Francophonie. Pourtant, elle est non seulement arrivée à Paris, mais elle a aussi été traduite en plusieurslanguestellesquelecatalan,l’espagnol, l’italien, le polonais, l’allemand et le yiddish aussi bien qu’en anglais avec deux versions: l’une plus générale et l’autre pour l’Écosse, entre autres. Cela preuve que, malgré tout, la traduction est possible dans un monde où international est souvent compris comme dénational. Cet article étudie la traduction des référents culturels, de même que des noms propres, en catalan et en espagnol, a n d’élucider et de comparer les stratégies de traduction suivies.

    Les Belles-Sœurs is a theatre play written by Michel Tremblay in 1965 in Montreal. The language and culture are strongly marked, which confers a very local character to it;

    it was before considered as non-exportable, even in la Francophonie. However, not only it arrived in Paris, but it has also been translated into several languages as Catalan, Spanish, Italian, Polish, German, Yiddish and English with two versions: a more general one and another one for Scotland, among others. This proves that, in spite of everything, translation is possible in a world where international is often understood as unnational. This paper studies the translation of these cultural references, as well as the proper names, in Catalan and Spanish, in order to elucidate and compare the followed strategies of translation.
