    Ecotourism represents a segment of tourism that uses the natural resources in a sustainable manner, seeking to encourage their conservation and promote the well-being of the population. Thus, this research aimed to characterize, through observation, the lithotypes and geological structures of the natural tourist attractions of the region of Cabeça de Boi, in the municipality of Itambé do Mato Dentro (MG), as well as verifying the existing infrastructure in place for tourist assistance. Thus, the tourist attractions analyzed, represented by Intancado, Chuvisco, Maçã, and Lajeado and Poço waterfalls, are formed by quartzites associated to the Serra do Lobo Unit, Souza-Brumadinho Formation, belonging to the Espinhaço Supergroup. With regard to the infrastructure for tourism service, the negative aspect is the lack of signage to access tourist attractions; on the other hand, we can see the improvement related to the water supply of the community, as well as the capacity of this for the lodging of tourists. In general, aiming to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in the Cabeça de Boi community, it is necessary to focus on environmental education involving tourists and residents, in order to mitigate negative impacts and preserve the environment.

    O ecoturismo representa um segmento do turismo que utiliza de forma sustentável os recursos naturais, buscando incentivar a conservação destes e promover o bem-estar da população. Assim, esta pesquisa visou caracterizar, por meio da observação, os litotipos e estruturas geológicas dos atrativos turísticos naturais da região de Cabeça de Boi, município de Itambé do Mato Dentro (MG), além de verificar a infraestrutura existente no local para atendimento ao turismo. Assim sendo, os atrativos turísticos analisados, representados pelas cachoeiras do Intancado, do Chuvisco, da Maçã, além do Lajeado e Poço, são formados por quartzitos associados à Unidade Serra do Lobo, Formação Sopa-Brumadinho, pertencente ao Supergrupo Espinhaço. Com relação à infraestrutura para atendimento ao turismo, destaca-se, como aspecto negativo, a ausência de sinalização para acesso aos atrativos turísticos; por outro lado, percebe-se a melhoria relacionada ao abastecimento de água da comunidade, assim como a capacidade desta para a hospedagem de turistas. De maneira geral, visando contribuir para o desenvolvimento do turismo sustentável na comunidade de Cabeça de Boi, salienta-se a necessidade de trabalhos voltados para a educação ambiental envolvendo turistas e moradores, visando a mitigação dos impactos negativos e a conservação do meio ambiente.
