    El Palacio Nacional de Ajuda en Lisboa es una herencia de la voluntad del Rey Juan VI de crear uno de los palacios más grandes del mundo, lleno de las riquezas del imperio portugués. Aunque incompleto, sigue siendo el primer palacio portugués en importancia por las colecciones y la autenticidad de sus interiores, a saber, desde el tiempo en que el rey D. Luis I y la reina D. Maria Pia vivieron en el palacio, entre 1862 y 1910. Conserva sus interiores casi intactos tal y como estaban al final de la monarquía en Portugal en 1910, lo que nos devuelve al escenario original de experiencias privadas y políticas que construyeron la historia de Portugal. Las colecciones del palacio son variadas y se remontan al siglo XVI, desde la orfebrería, la pintura, la cerámica, la escultura, los textiles, el vidrio, la fotografía, las artes decorativas y otras, que reúnen un universo de más de 100.000 objetos. Antigua residencia real y museo actual, sigue siendo una casa de representación del poder al ser utilizada para las ceremonias oficiales de la Presidencia de la República y del Gobierno portugués.

    Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon is an inheritance of King João VI’s will in creating one of the largest palaces in the world, crowded with the riches of the Portuguese empire. Although incomplete, it is still the first Portuguese palace in importance of collections and authenticity of its interiors, namely from the time when King D. Luis I and Queen D. Maria Pia lived in the palace, from 1862 to 1910. It conserves its interiors almost intact as at the end of the monarchy in Portugal in 1910, which brings us back to the original scenario of private and political experiences that built the history of Portugal. The collections of the palace are varied and group collections of the royal family dating back to the 16th century, from goldsmithing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, glass, photography, decorative arts and others, that bring together a universe of more than 100,000 objects. Ancient royal residence and a museum today, it remains a house of Representation of Power by being used for official ceremonies of the Presidency of the Republic and the Portuguese Government.
