    Se ha pretendido dar una respuesta clarificadora a los distintos aspectos que incidían en el nombramiento de los oficiales reales. Los criterios p a seleccionarlos otorgaban un papel relevante al Consejo de Aragón y en menor intensidad al Virrey de turno del Principado. Esquema válido no sólo para el nombramiento de los magistrados, sino también p a las restantes instituciones reales catalanas. La decisión última dependía de la voluntad real. Y ésta valoraba sobremanera la fidelidad y el servicio familiar a la Corona en anteriores circunstancias históricas. Pero los recursos económicos para garantizar, por ejemplo, el funcionamiento de la Audiencia también absorbían la atención de la monarquía. Lo cual provocaba una incesante, y en ocasiones complicada, búsqueda de fuentes de ingresos, cómo se observa en Cataluña durante el conflicto de los Segadores

    This article pretends to cast a light on the selection and behavior of those who were to protect the interests of the Spanish Crown in Catalonia. The criteria to select them were basically the same in the different royal institutions. The Council of Aragon exerted an important role throughout this process and in a lesser degree the Viceroy. This process was not only applicable to judges, but to the rest of the royal servants in Catalonia as well. Anyway, the final decision depended on the royal Goodwill. And the King thought that fidelity and family service to the Spanish Crown were essential qualifications to achieve the royal favor. But the necessity to find suitable economic resources to guarantee the working of the Audiencia also drew the attention of the Spanish monarchy. That's why the King found himself involved in an endless effort to meet the growing expenses, especially in periods of political upheaval. The Catalan Revolution of 1640 was an outstanding example of these difficulties.
