    Theateraufführungen sind ohne Zuschauer nicht denkbar. Zugleich erweisen sich Proben aber als öffentlichkeitsabgeschirmte und intime Vorgänge, da eine (zu frühe) Orientierung an möglichen Publikums-Effekten den kreativen Prozess stört. Auf der Grundlage von über 30 Stunden Videoaufnahmen von Theaterproben zeige ich an ausgewählten Ausschnitten, wie Theatermachende sich sprachlich und körperlich im Probenprozess auf das Publikum beziehen, wie dies interaktiv realisiert wird und welche Rückschlüsse das auf die Weisen der Publikumskonstruktion im Kontext von Proben zulässt

    Theatre performances are unthinkable without spectators. At the same time, however, rehearsals are an intimate and from public access protected process, because a too early orientation at effects for an audience interferes with the creative process within rehearsals. Based on more than 30 hours of video recordings, I show on a selection of extracts how theatre producers refer verbally and bodily to audience within the rehearsal process, how this is accomplished interactionally and what this tells us about the ways theatre professionals construct their audiences in the context of rehearsals.
