Resumen de Philology of the Ear: "Witz" and Suggestion in Novalis’s "Monolog"

Ein komplexer Aspekt des Interesses der Romantik an der Praxis des Schreibens ist die Vorstellung, dass die stillen Buchstaben eine akustische Natur besitzen, die aber nichts mit der körperlichen Stimme des Sprechers zu tunhat. In diesem Aufsatz über Novalis’ "Monolog" wird die Aufmerksamkeit auf 'das Ohr' des Schreibens gerichtet. Demonstriert wird, dass Novalis’ Text anhand einer Rhetorik des "Witzes" eine Fiktion der Oralität entwickelt. Speziell berücksichtigt wird die Unterscheidung im "Monolog" zwischen zwei Modi der Sprache und deren Temporalität: Am Beispiel von Kassandra analysiert der Aufsatz wie in "Monolog" Sprechen als ein Modus der Gegenwart und das Schreiben als Modus der Zukunft dargestellt werden.

One of the complexities of the Romantic interest in the practice of writing is the notion that the silent letters have an acoustic nature which has nothing to do with the bodily voice of the speaker. This article on Novalis’s "Monolog" considers the 'ear' of writing. It is shown that through a rhetoric of "Witz", Novalis’s text creates a fiction of orality. Specific attention will be directed at how "Monolog" distinguishes between two modes of language and their temporalities: Through the example of Cassandra, the article analyses the way »Monolog« presents speech as a mode of the present, and writing as a mode of the future
