    Juana Biarnés es una de las pioneras del fotoperiodismo español tras la Guerra Civil Española. Su manera de enfrentarse a los roles de género y de abrirse paso en un mundo dominado por hombres la convierten en importante caso de estudio para comprender la articulación de los discursos mediáticos sobre la mujer fotógrafa en nuestro país. Utilizando la entrevista en profundidad con la propia fotógrafa y una práctica de archivo con el rastreo pormenorizado de fuentes fotográficas, hemerográficas y fílmicas, este estudio plantea los relatos y discursos que conforman, de forma holística, la representación y autorrepresentación de su figura como mujer fotógrafa en la prensa, el cine y la fotografía durante la década de los cincuenta y sesenta del siglo XX.

    Juana Biarnés is one of the pioneers of Spanish Photojournalism after the Spanish Civil War. Her way of dealing with gender roles and making her way in a world controlled by men makes that her figure becomes an important study case to understand the articulation of the media discourses about female photographers in our country. Using the in-depth interview with the photo reporter herself and an archival practices with a detailed tracking of photographic, hemerographic and film sources, this study presents the narratives and speeches that holistically represent the representation and self-representation of her figure as a female photographer in the press, cinema and photography during the fifties and sixties of the XXth century.
