    La protección del medio ambiente y la aspiración al desarrollo sostenible constituyen una de las prioridades de las líneas de trabajo del Ministerio de Educación Superior de la República de Cuba; el fundamento teórico que sostiene esta aseveración consiste en la crítica al conocimiento ambiental prevaleciente, por resultar el responsable del creciente estado de degradación ambiental, que amenaza a la extinción de la propia especie humana. En este contexto educar en una nueva visión y posicionamiento humano respecto al ambiente, permitirá nuevos modos de actuación, en particular sobre la naturaleza y respecto a la metodología para acceder al desarrollo sostenible a escala local. El objetivo de la investigación consiste en implementar una estrategia que contribuya a la educación ambiental en la comunidad «La Ceiba,» del municipio de Consolación del Sur, que conlleve a la mitigación y/o reversión de la degradación ambiental evidenciada en la localidad. En esta investigación se utilizaron los métodos teóricos como el histórico-lógico, el análisis-síntesis y la inducción-deducción y empíricos las encuestas, la revisión documental, la observación y la entrevista. Se logró una transformación en los modos de actuación de los habitantes de la comunidad.

    The protection of the environment and the aspiration to the sustainable development constitute one of the priorities of the lines of work of the Ministry of Superior Education of the Republic of Cuba; the theoretical foundation that sustains this asseveration consists on the critic to the prevalent environmental knowledge, to be the responsible for the growing state of environmental degradation that he/she threatens to the extinction of the own human species. In this context to educate in a new vision and human positioning regarding the atmosphere, it will allow new performance ways, in particular on the nature and regarding the methodology to consent to the sustainable development to local scale. The objective of the investigation consists on implementing a strategy that contributes to the environmental education in the community The Ceiba, of the municipality of Consolation of the South that bears to the mitigation y/o reversion of the environmental degradation evidenced in the town. In this investigation the theoretical methods were used as the historical-logical one, the analysis-synthesis and the induction-deduction and empiric the surveys, the documental revision, the observation and the interview. A transformation was achieved in the ways of the inhabitants' of the community performance.
