In recent years has been denied the possibility of making use of the term State to discuss Middle Ages, under the idea that the state as such was quenched with the principle of it. However, it seems to me a mistake to generalize the application, or not, of a concept of political power over a thousand years of history. Thinking that the reality of the V century Europe resembled the fifteenth century, as well as to determine whether or not the idea of the State is, or is not, viable for all realms and in any territory, seems far-fetched. I believe that in the particular case of the Visigoth kingdom of Toledo the shaping and perspectives of the political power were applied differently, at least in the short period covered by the last quarter of the sixth century.
