Upon building the first main line of the Bus Rapid Transit or BRT (Transmilenio) system in Bogotá, pedestrian bridges became indispensable in linking users to stations. However, they also acquired a new role as spaces of a new urbanity: artifacts that facilitate access from the stations to neighborhoods, which connect with other modes of transport, facilities or commercial services. In this context, this article aims to analyze the pedestrian bridges and public space of Bogotá´s Transmilenio system in order to understand the logic of the footbridges as a connection between both sides of the street and as devices that generate this double experience. To this end, a general analysis was carried out that characterized the types of pedestrian connection that are a part of the infrastructure and the dimensions of the public space provided by the system to the city. Additionally, a detailed analysis was conducted on the pedestrian bridges selected as case studies, which examined their location in the public space and the variety of ways of using it.
