  • Resumen
    • Two new studies provide important information on the link between Zika virus and severe fetal central nervous system complications and death.

In a prospective cohort study, investigators from Brazil and the United States collected medical, prenatal, and clinical data and serum and urine specimens from 88 pregnant women at 5 to 38 gestational weeks presenting with a rash within the previous 5 days (Brasil P et al. N Engl J Med. doi:10.1056/NEJMoa1602412 [published online March 4, 2016]). Of the 72 women who tested positive for Zika virus, 42 (58%) were examined by fetal ultrasonography.
