    En el presente artículo se realiza una revisión sobre los aspectos generales de un corpus de documentación novohispana muy particular, los códices Techialoyan; para después centrarnos en las pinturas que contienen. Sus aspectos formales y temáticos han servido, junto a otros aspectos, para definir y agrupar a este grupo de manuscritos que se elaboraron entre finales del siglo XVII y principios del XVIII. Si bien hay numerosos estudios sobre ellos, no ha habido muchos avances en cuanto a los posibles referentes que tuvieron, los cuales se encuentran muy alejados de los códices mesoamericanos. Todo ello se vincula en cierta medida con temas como su datación o la identidad de sus autores. En este caso lo que planteamos, más que una propuesta definitiva, es abrir una posible vía de análisis a través de las semejanzas con las denominadas pinturas enconchadas realizadas en México por talleres en la misma época

    In this paper I review the general aspects of a particular corpus of the documentation from New Spain, known as the codices Techialoyan. A special emphasis is put on their painting style, which is one of the elements that served to define this group of documents created between the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Despite the existence of numerous studies on these manuscripts, there have not been many advances concerning the possible referents of these paintings, which differ greatly from other Mesoamerican codices. These aspects are also related to issues such as the dating of these documents or the identity of their authors. I propose a possible way of analysis of Techialoyan codices through their similarities with the so-called enconchadas paintings, created in workshops in Mexico within the same time span.
