Seventeen Democratic senators wrote the leaders of an appropriations subcommittee urging that they earmark $10 million for gun violence research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in fiscal year 2017 (http://1.usa.gov/1RwuZMr).
Since 1996, the annual appropriations bill has included a provision stating, “None of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control.”
