    Adaptada de la novela La Dama de las Camelias de Alejandro Dumas (hijo), La Traviata es un hito en la historia de la ópera que en el cine de Zeffirelli frisa el pedestal de lo imperfectible. Por aglutinar de manera magistral las profundas contradicciones de la sociedad y las implicaciones de una enfermedad que la atravesaba por completo, esta obra cumbre del Romanticismo llega hasta nuestros días con un poder de seducción intacto. A la par de los comentarios en torno a los méritos artísticos de la ópera y la producción cinematográfica, el trabajo plantea una hipótesis fisiopatogénica sobre los mecanismos que habrían contribuido al curso fatal de la tuberculosis de la protagonista. Se pone un especial énfasis a la interrelación entre los procesos psicológicos, neuroendocrinos e inmunitarios que pueden brindarnos una respuesta aproximada al porqué del aumento del riesgo de enfermar durante situaciones emocionalmente adversas.

    Adapted from the novel  The Lady of the Camellias of Alejandro Dumas (son), The Traviata is a landmark in the history of the opera in which the movie of Zeffirelli almost arrives at perfeccion. By uniting together, in a magical way, the deep contradictions of society and the implications of an illness that has crossed it completely, this great work of Romanticism arrives in our time with a power of flawless seduction.  There exists combined commentaries about   the artistic merits of the opera and the film production, the work poses a phisiopathogenic hypothesis about the mechanisms that would have contributed to a fatal course of the protagonist’s tuberculosis.  The special emphasis that is placed on the relation between the psychological processes of neuroendocrines and the immune system can offer us an answer as to why there is an increased risk or vulnerability to illness during emotionally difficult situations.
