    Resumen El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la relación entre los métodos biográficos en ciencias sociales y los estudios migratorios a partir de una pregunta central: ¿se puede “dar voz al Otro”? Esta es la cuestión eje de la construcción de los métodos biográficos para el estudio de la migración, en donde el “Otro” es el migrante, cuyo conocimiento aspira a ser develado por las ciencias sociales. Se exploran las respuestas que éstas han dado a la interrogante desde los estudios pioneros hasta las propuestas del siglo XXI. Más allá de incorporar instrumentos técnicos y nuevos hallazgos de las ciencias sociales, el problema reside en cómo se concibe la relación investigador-sujeto investigado: lejos de una neutralidad valorativa, el investigador está comprometido con esta relación y todas sus implicaciones.

    Abstract This article reflects on the relationship between biographical methods in the social sciences and migratory studies based on a central question: can we “give voice to the Other”? This is the nucleus for the construction of biographical methods to study migration, where the “Other” is the migrant, whose perspective aspires to be unveiled by the social sciences. They explore the answers they have given to the question from pioneering studies to the proposals of the 21st century. Beyond incorporating technical instruments and new findings of the social sciences, the problem lies in how researcher-subject relation is conceived: far from evaluative neutrality, the researcher is committed to this relationship and all its implications.
