    Identificados como uma manifestação da querelle des femmes em Portugal, os papéis volantes que projetam uma imagem positiva da mulher publicados no século XVIII incluem nas suas estratégias discursivas o uso de recursos tipificados como a enumeração de exempla. Esta característica foi associada a uma falta de informação factual e uma argumentação pouco sustentada. No entanto, o uso de uma estratégia codificada representa um diálogo com a tradição discursiva da tratadística matrimonial e dos elencos de mulheres ilustres, que valorizam as qualidades da virtude e da devoção à família. Este artigo faz o inventário das categorias de exempla mais significativas para averiguar em que medida os papéis volantes reproduzem o discurso tradicional ou evidenciam uma alteração de repertórios culturais. Verifica-se que os papéis volantes fazem uma inflexão no sentido da valorização da mulher que se distingue nas artes e das letras.

    The eighteenth-century editorial genre papel volante served as the platform for a Portuguese querelle des femmes. These pamphlets conveyed a positive female image and used typified discursive strategies such as the use of exempla, the listing of exemplary women. These have been perceived as lacking in informative value and argumentative depth. However, the use of codified strategies equated to a dialogue with the discursive tradition of matrimonial treatises and catalogues of exempla, which valued the qualities of virtue and devotion to family. This paper sets out to list the categories of exempla to investigate whether the papel volante replicated traditional discourses or signalled a transformation of cultural repertoires. An analysis of the prints suggests an inflection towards the valuing of women who excel in the arts and letters.
