  • Objective: To study in our hospital the impact of the implementation of a closed transfer device in the time of preparation of biohazardous drugs. Method: The preparation times of various biohazardous drugs were measured before and after the implementation of the Phaseal® Closed Transfer System. Results: The mean time to prepare each drug was 11.47 minutes (95% CI 9.86- 13.08) before Phaseal implementation and 11.65 minutes after its implementation (95% CI 10.13-13.16). There was no statistical significance when comparing both means (p = 0.844). Discussion: There was no difference in preparation time when comparing the Phaseal® system with the previous system, coupled with the advantages that the use of a closed transfer system leads us to consider the Phaseal® system as a safe and efficient alternative to prepare biohazardous drugs
