Una de las épocas políticas más dinámicas y controvertidas de la historia medieval de Castilla fue el reinado de Pedro I. La utilización de una “propaganda” por parte de ambos bandos, aunque se conserve en su mayoría la del bando rebelde, es testigo de la crudeza de los ataques. La principal arma que esgrimieron sus adversarios fue la del tiranicidio. Pedro se había extralimitado en sus deberes y derechos, hasta el punto perder el sentido de la justicia, y por lo tanto derrocarle era una obligación. El presente estudio intenta aproximarse a través de la ideología y praxis a la idea que Pedro tenía de la justicia.

The reign of King Pedro I is no doubt among the most troubled and polemic periods in the history of medieval Castile. The crudest accusations were used for the benefit of “propaganda” by both sides – although that of the rebels is better preserved and known today. Tyranicide was the main weapon they wielded: if Pedro had exceeded his duties and rights as a sovereign, even to the extent of losing his sense of justice, then deposing him would actually become to perform a duty. This study hopes to get an approach to King Pedro’s idea of justice, both in ideology and praxis. Pedro I de Castilla, justicia, ley, tirano, rebelión.
