    El presente artículo describe las actividades realizadas por el Fondo Europeo de Inversiones con el objetivo de dinamizar el ecosistema de venture capital español y por ende facilitar el acceso a financiación a las pequeñas y medianas empresas innovadoras. En primer lugar se analiza la situación del venture capital español dentro del contexto europeo y mundial y se enumeran posibles causas de esta situación.

    A continuación se describen los diferentes programas que el Fondo Europeo de Inversiones ha implementado en España dentro del segmento de venture capital y business Angels, para finalizar con un análisis del impacto que estas acciones han tenido en el ecosistema así como unas reflexiones que apuntan diferentes caminos para mejorar en el futuro dicho segmento del capital riesgo español, fundamental para el buen desarrollo del tejido de pequeñas y medianas empresas innovadoras.

    This article describes the activities of the European Investment Fund aimed at developing the Spanish venture capital ecosystem and hence facilitate access to finance to innovative small and medium enterprises. The article starts with an analysis of the Spanish venture capital industry within the European and world-wide context and a list of potential causes. Next, the different programs that the European Investment Fund has implemented in Spain in the venture capital and business angels segments are described. Finally, an impact analysis of such programs is presented followed by a recollection of ideas to improve the future of such segment of the Spanish risk capital industry which is key to the development of the Spanish innovative small and medium businesses.
