El aprendizaje experiencial de la estadística en base a los estilos de aprendizaje del estudiante universitario

    En este trabajo de investigación se aplicó el método denominado Aprendizaje Experiencial, desarrollado por Kolb, para el aprendizaje de la Estadística a los estudiantes de la escuela de Trabajo Social de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo-Perú. Se les aplicó un pre-test sobre conceptos de la Estadística así como el test de Kolb para identificar sus estilos de aprendizaje. Con los estilos de aprendizaje identificados se elaboró diseños instruccionales siguiendo los lineamientos del método de aprendizaje experiencial. La evaluación del aprendizaje experiencial del curso de Estadística se llevó a cabo con instrumentos de evaluación procedimental y actitudinal. En el pre-test los estudiantes evidenciaron mayores deficiencias en el conocimiento referente a: la estimación de la mediana a partir de un gráfico, el concepto intuitivo de variabilidad y sobre la noción de aleatoriedad. De los cuatro estilos de aprendizaje de Kolb, el estilo predominante en los estudiantes de Trabajo Social fue el tipo divergente. La aplicación del método Aprendizaje Experiencial a través de diseños instruccionales incrementó el rendimiento académico de losestudiantes independientemente del estilo de aprendizaje (p<0.01).Palabras clave: aprendizaje experiencial, test de Kolb, aprendizaje de estadística, estilos de aprendizaje.

    In this research it has been used the Experiential Learning developed by Kolb, for the learning in Statistics on Social Work students of the National University of Trujillo-Peru. We applied a pretest to students about statistics concepts and also the Kolb test for identify their learning styles. With this learning styles already identified it has been made instructional designs following the lineaments of the Experiential Learning method. The evaluation in the experiential learning of the course of statistics was applied procedimental and attitudinal instruments. In the pre test the students demonstrated more deficiencies in the knowledge of the estimation of the median based on a graph, the intuitive concept of variability and about the notion of aleatority. Of the four learning styles the Kolb, the most predominant learning style on Social Work students was the divergent one. The application of the Experiential Learning method through instructional designs increased the academic achievement of the students independently from the learning style (p<0.01).
