    Guy Chapouillié has filmed the rural world and its transformation since the early 1970s, right alongside its actors. In this interview, he discusses the genesis and making of his most recent full-length film, L’Azegado, which examines the relationship that a cattle farming couple in the Aubrac region have with their work and the land. We discover the filmmaker’s corpus of representations, his artistic influences – notably Jean-François Millet – and the sensitivity that he puts into his own writing. We closely follow the search for the perfect detail, lighting, movement and dialogue in each shot. G. Chapouillié reveals his approach, how he works and the portrayal of farming life found in his work and that of his team. This interview also sheds light on the specificities of writing for film, from the first scenes to the final editing, where intuition and connections to people and places are important elements.

    Depuis le début des années 1970, Guy Chapouillié filme le monde rural et ses transformations, au plus près de ses acteurs. Dans cet entretien, il revient sur la genèse et la réalisation de son dernier long-métrage, L’Azegado, qui interroge le rapport au travail et à la terre d’un couple d’éleveurs dans l’Aubrac.
