    El treball analitza la paradoxa que el model d’unificació italiana exercí sobre Víctor Balaguer: si, per una part, la renaixença italiana amb totel que representava d’element cultural i simbòlic formava part ineludible del Grand Tour cultural de les generacions joves i cultes del període, perl’altra, el model centralista i uniformitzador del moviment hauria d’haver estat rebutjat per l’escriptor català, defensor de les llibertats locals, especialment de les dels antics regnes.     This paper analyses the paradox which the model of Italianunification exerted on Víctor Balaguer. On one hand, Italy’s Risorgimento, along with everything that it represented culturally and symbolically, was an inescapable part of the cultural Grand Tour for young and cultured individuals of the period. On the other hand, the movement’s centralising and standardising approach ought to have been rejected by the Catalan writer, who was a champion of local freedoms, particularly the freedoms of the old regimes.
