José Moreno Nieto, natural de Siruela (Badajoz), catedrático de la Universidad de Granada y Decano de Filosofía y Letras de la misma, catedrático, Decano y Rector de la Universidad Central fue asiduo de todos los foros de pensamiento de la Corte, sobre todo del Ateneo madrileño del que fue presidente durante siete años y estuvo siempre atento a las ideas llegadas de fuera que, de forma volcánica, penetraban en la nueva cultura española de aquellos años.
Hombre de inmensa cultura tuvo el reconocimiento de la Real Academia de la Historia, de la Jurisprudencia y de la de Ciencias Morales y Políticas de las que fue académico.
José Moreno Nieto, who was born in Siruela (Badajoz), became both professor and eventually Dean at Faculty of Humanities at the University of Granada as well as professor, Dean and Vice-Chancellor at Central University.
He was also one of regulars at all discussion forums around the Spanish Court, specially at yhe Ateneo club in Madrid, where he was appointed as a chairman for seven years. He was thought to have had an open mind to those ideas, which coming from autside, overwhelmingly permeated the new Spaninsh culture at the time.
