  • This is the first extensive study of the language varieties used in Greek newspapers before the resolution of the language question. Two selected newspapers from the second half of the 19th and the mid 20th century will be analysed in detail, and two broader surveys will shed light on the morphology of the third person plural in Greek newspapers between 1840 and 1930 and the linguistic diversity of the press around 1960
