    El trasplante de células madres constituye un arma terapéutica eficaz en manos de todos los oftalmólogos. La aplicación y estandarización de la técnica abre nuevas perspectivas al tratamiento de patologías que antes no tenían solución y que disminuyen la calidad de vida de los pacientes, evitando en muchos de ellos llegar a realizar el trasplante óptico y, en otros, mejorando el pronóstico de dicha cirugía. Las quemaduras corneo-conjuntivales por agentes químicos son una de las causas más frecuentes de insuficiencia limbar, parcial o total con la consecuente disminución de la agudeza visual.

    Transplantation of stem cells is an effective therapeutic weapon in the hands of all ophthalmologists. The application and standardization of the technique opens new perspectives to the treatment of pathologies that previously had no solution and that diminish the quality of life of the patients, avoiding in many of them to achieve the optical transplant and, in others, improving the prognosis of such surgery. Corneal-conjunctival burns by chemical agents are one of the most frequent causes of limbal, partial or total insufficiency with the consequent decrease of visual acuity.
