Resumen de Libros-álbum: entre la duda y la sospecha

En este trabajo abordamos el libro-álbum, género que se instala con ímpetu a fines del siglo XX y que se caracteriza, entre otros rasgos narratológicos y retóricos, porque la relación texto-imagen deja de ser transparente como si ésta renegara de su ancestral rol ilustrativo y reclamara un protagonismo mayor. Conocido como Book Picture y adherido a la literatura infantil, aunque con acentuados antecedentes en el comic, se edita precipitadamente en Europa donde, de inmediato, se le asigna un rol en el aprendizaje infantil lo cual da lugar a un portentoso auge de mercado. A partir de un breve análisis de Finn Herman de MatsLetén y Hanne Bartholin, El Abecedario Macabro de Edward Gorey y De noche en la calle de Ángela Lago, concluimos que el libro álbum exige del lector nuevas formas de apropiación, que subvierten el orden canónico del ejercicio de lectura. No se trata de un libro que ilustra un texto sino de una relación compleja entre lenguajes.

In this work we approach the book-picture, a genre that is installed with impetus by the end of the 20th century and which is characterized, among other narratological and rhetorical features, by the fact that the text-image relationship ceases to be transparent as if it denied its ancestral illustrative role and claimed a greater one.Known as Picture Book and connected to children's literature, although with a strong background in comics, it is hastily published in Europe where it is immediately assigned a role in children's learning which gives rise to a portentous market boom. From a brief analysis of Finn Herman by Mats Letén and Hanne Bartholin, The Macabre Alphabet by Edward Gorey and Night by the Angela Lake Street, we conclude that the Picture Book demands the reader to use new forms of appropriation that subvert the canonical order of the reading exercise. It is not a book that illustrates a text but a complex relationship between languages.
