  En esta investigación se presenta una descripción y análisis del Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) y del comportamiento de los indicadores de desigualdad, nivel de vida y pobreza. En ese sentido, se realiza un análisis que permite determinar el impacto que genera el crecimiento del PIB sobre el desarrollo humano en Colombia, durante el periodo comprendido entre el 2000 y 2010. Los resultados obtenidos en la investigación demuestran que durante la década, el crecimiento del PIB no reflejó disminución de la pobreza en la misma proporción, evidenciando así, que la desigualdad persiste y que a pesar de las reducciones, las cifras se encuentran por encima del promedio de América Latina.

  This research presents a description and analysis of the gross domestic product (GDP) and the behavior of the indicators of inequality, standard of living and poverty. In this way, we made an analysis, which allows determining the impact generated by the growth of the GDP on human development in Colombia, during the period from 2000 to 2010. The results of this research show that during the Decade, the growth of GDP did not reflect a reduction of levels of poverty in the same proportion, thus showing that persists. Similarly, in the distribution of wealth, the comparative analysis of the GINI coefficient shows that Colombia is still above the average for Latin America.
