  We investigate in this paper some elements of Budapeste, by Chico Buarque, referent to authorial truth and authorial illusion questions, present and confused in contemporaneous texts. These questions lead to the possible existence of the writer's myth in the writing. The analysis is based in the autofiction concept, discussed by Diana Klinger, that adds to it the myth description, following the Roland Barthes's proposal in Mythologies.

  Investigamos neste artigo alguns elementos do romance Budapeste, de Chico Buarque, referentes a questões de verdade e ilusão autorais, presentes e confundidas nos textos contemporâneos. Essas questões conduzem à possível existência do mito do escritor na escrita. A análise ancora-se na concepção de autoficção, tratada por Diana Klinger, que lhe acrescenta a descrição do mecanismo do mito, seguindo a proposta de Roland Barthes em Mitologias.
