¿Qué me ofrecen las páginas web de los centros educativos? Estudio exploratorio en Cantabria (España)

    En la Sociedad de la Información y la Comunicación las páginas web de los centros educativos son ventanas abiertas al mundo en las que cualquier persona puede informarse y documentarse sobre el trabajo que se desarrolla en los centros. En este artículo presentamos una investigación empírica donde analizamos todas las webs escolares de los centros de Educación Infantil y Primaria sostenidos con fondos públicos enclavados en la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria. Los resultados muestran la situación de las webs en lo relativo a su presentación, organización, contenido, utilidad, papel otorgado a la comunidad educativa y a la metodología docente. El 86% están bien presentadas, el 91% están bien organizadas, hay gran diversidad en cuanto a su contenido, se dirigen fundamentalmente a las familias y se podría explotar mucho más la relación a la comunidad educativa y las metodologías docentes. Las conclusiones revelan que el desarrollo de la web depende del centro y de las contribuciones que hagan las personas de la comunidad educativa, no de su contexto geográfico o su titularidad. Asimismo, el coordinador TIC y la Administración pueden jugar un papel de estímulo o de freno en las escuelas en el diseño y desarrollo de la web.

    In the Information and Communication Society school’s websites is an open window to the world in which anyone can learn and get documentation on the work developed in schools. In this paper, we show an empirical research about all school sites in centers of Early Childhood and Primary Education run by public funds and set in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. The results show the situation of websites with regard to its presentation, organization, content, usefulness, role given to the educational community and teaching methodology. 86% are well presented, 91% are well organized, there is a great diversity in their content, they are mainly addressed to families and the relationship with the educational community and teaching methodologies could be exploited much more. The findings reveal that the development of the web depends on the center and the contributions made by the people of the educational community, not its geographical context or ownership. Likewise, the ICT coordinator and the Administration can play a stimulating or curbing role in the schools in the design and development of the web.
