    La ducha, que existe desde la Antigua Grecia, renace en su forma mecanizada como tratamiento hidroterapéutico para la clase pudiente francesa del siglo XVII. La presencia de paciente y médico genera un diálogo entre la voz interior y el discurso de la razón. La puesta en común de relatos íntimos y tratados médicos muestra su historia a través de lo sentido, revalando cuatro periodos de transformación.

    Partiendo del miedo a la violencia del tratamiento en el siglo XVII, se toma la conciencia de la existencia del sistema nervioso en el siglo XVIII. En el siglo XIX contrasta la aparición de la noción de confort con la mensuración de sus propiedades. A principios del siglo XX la ducha se figura como instrumento de diversión, mientras que el interés sanitario se centra en su especificación.

    El renacer de la ducha a través de lo sentido está sujeto a tranformaciones de control de higiene y de espectáculo.

    The shower, which exists since the Classical Greece, is reborn in its mechanised form as hydrotherapeutic treatment for the French 17th century well-off class. The presence of the patient and the doctor, generates a dialogue between the inner voice and the reason's discourse. The exchange of intimate writings and medical treaties shows its history through the senses, revealing four transformation periods.

    Starting from the fear towards the treatment's violence in the 17th century, an awareness of the existence of the nervous system is drawn in the 18th century. In the 19th century, the apparition of the notion of comfort, contrasts with the mensuration of its properties. In the early 20th century the shower is figured as a diversion instrument, whilst sanitary interest is focused in its specification. ç The rebirth of the shower through the senses is subjected to control transformations of hygiene and spectacle.
