The Vatican Library has a century old experience on preservation of its collections. The paper illustrates a brief ex cursus and some new proposals of conditioning, awareness raising projects and overall, the improvements to the anoxic disinfestation method achieved over almost twenty years of experience within the conservation and preservation studio itself. The collaboration and productive exchange between conservators and librarians become essential to reach optimal conservation conditions of the books’ collections and the Vatican Library is an example. This kind of cooperation would be auspicable for all libraries.
