    El verso que inicia el drama Don Carlos de Schiller sobre los hermosos días de Aranjuez propicia la creación de la imagen romántica del real sitio madrileño, y es responsable de su difusión en Europa. Se argumenta mediante el análisis del significado y del significante del topónimo Aranjuez y de la descripción del espacio en la obra, así como con el empleo de fuentes artísticas y literarias, en especial los testimonios de viajeros y guías turísiticas de los siglos XIX y XX.

    The opening verse of schiller´s drama "Don Carlos", about the beautiful days of Aranjuez, gives rise to the creation of the romantic image of this royal site near Madrid, and is responsible for its spreading throughout Europe. This article attempts to analyse the meaning and the signifier o the word Aranjuez and its spatial descriptions within the play, citing artistic and literary sources, in particular certain personal accounts of travellers and tourist guides in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
