    En el presente artículo se hace una reconstrucción histórica, basada en fuentes orales y escritas, de la olvidada “Guerra de Villarrica”, sesenta años después que se diera inicio a ésta. En ella analiza la política anticomunista del general Rojas Pinilla y de las élites colombianas, la operación de exterminio que libró el ejército contra estas pacíficas regiones agrarias, así como la resistencia armada popular a esta agresión militar, para concluir en la necesidad de desmitificar la memoria oficial que trata de eludir la gran responsabilidad que ha tenido el Estado colombiano en el origen y prolongación del conflicto social y armado.

    In this article we make an historical reconstruction –based on oral and written sources– of the forgotten "War of Villarrica", sixty years ago. We analyze the anti-Communist policy of General Rojas Pinilla and the Colombian elites, the operation of extermination waged by the military against these peaceful agrarian regions and the popular armed resistance to the military aggression, concluding on the need to demystify oficial memory which tries to avoid the great responsibility that the Colombian state has had in the origin and extension of the social and armed conflict.
