    En torno al estallido de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pude identificarse el resurgimiento en la Unión Soviética de un discurso nacionalista edificado desde arriba y apoyado en diversas manifestaciones culturales y artísticas. La música no fue ajena a este proceso, y en la línea del realismo musical surgido ya a mediados del siglo XIX, los compositores soviéticos contribuyeron a dar forma a este nuevo Nacionalismo Oficial, por medio de obras que buscaban no sólo describir la realidad del modo más exacto posible, sino también, y principalmente, dejar en claro una toma de postura política frente a la misma. Concretamente, el caso de Aleksandr Nevsky, film del cineasta Sergei Eisenstein con música del compositor Sergei Prokofiev, resulta paradigmático de esta cuestión, al dar cuenta de los lazos indisolubles entre creación artística, realismo, nacionalismo y compromiso político, en el marco de una guerra total en la que los artistas responden a la movilización de la totalidad de la sociedad soviética.

    By the outbreak of the Second World War, the rebirth of a nationalist discourse, built from the top and supported by different artistic and cultural creations, can be easily identified in the Soviet Union. Music was not strange to this process, and in the line of musical realism (originated by the middle of the 19th century), Soviet composers contributed in the shaping of this new Oficial Nationalism, by means of works which aimed not only at describing reality in the most accurate way possible, but also, and mainly, to express a political position towards it. Specifically, the case of Aleksandr Nevsky, film by Soviet film maker Sergei Eisenstein with music by composer Sergei Prokofiev, is paradigmatic of this topic, by giving account of the unbreakable bound between artistic creation, realism, nationalism and political commitmen, in the frame of a total war in which artist answered the call of total movilization just as the rest of Soviet society
