    En este artículo se presenta un estado de la cuestión sobre la confrontación armada y la violencia durante la Gran Rebelión andina (1780-1783). Para esto, se consideran los estudios existentes sobre tres focos de esta rebelión: Cusco, La Paz y Chayanta. En primer lugar, se ofrece una breve síntesis narrativa del proceso rebelde y de su represión. En segundo lugar, se describe la evolución de la historiografía sobre el tema, focalizando en su conexión con los cambios políticos latinoamericanos. En tercer lugar, se evalúan los aportes de la historiografía a partir de seis aspectos: armamento, Tácticas, Estructuras militares rebeldes, Estructuras militares represoras, Reformas militares y milicias y, por último, Violencia general. En cada caso, también se sugieren preguntas y nuevos caminos para orientar la investigación futura. Esta sección constituye la parte principal del artículo. Por último, se presenta una breve conclusión sobre la relación entre todos los aspectos militares trabajados en el texto y una pregunta típica de los estudios sobre la rebelión: cómo caracterizar la misma y su grado de radicalidad.

    In this article we present a state of the question on military confrontation and violence during the Andean Great Rebellion (1780-1783). For this purpose, we consider the existent researches on three focuses of the rebellion: Cusco, La Paz and Chayanta. Firstly, we offer a brief narrative summary of the rebel process and its repression. Secondly, we describe the evolution of the historiography on this topic, and we concentrate on its link with Latin American political changes. Thirdly, we evaluate the historiographical contributions by focusing on six topics: Armament, Tactics, Military Rebel Structures, Military Repressor Structures, Military Reforms and Militias and, lastly, General Violence. We also suggest questions and new ways to orient the future research in each case. This section is the main part of the article. Finally, we present a brief conclusion on the relationship between all the military aspects we have worked in this text and the typical question of the researches on this rebellion: how to characterize it and its degree of radicalness.
