  Cuando las enfermedades hepáticas, especialmente las hepatitis de diferente etiología, ocasionan un proceso inflamatorio y de reparación prolongado, existe un desequilibrio entre la producción y la degradación de la matriz extracelular dando lugar al proceso fibrogénico del órgano.

  La causa principal de la Fibrogénesis Hepática es la hepatitis crónica, para algunos autores ocasionada por infecciones virales y para otros, por alcohol y su metabolito el acetaldehído. Ésta patología ocasiona insuficiencia de un órgano vital, por lo que es relevante conocer la causa y los cambios estructurales con el fin de prevenir la enfermedad y sus complicaciones, ya que, aunque actualmente hay experimentos prometedores, para el tratamiento médico de estos pacientes es necesario continuar investigando para mejorar el pronóstico de vida y la calidad de vida de los pacientes.

  When liver diseases, specially the hepatitis of different etiology, cause an inflammatory process and prolonged repair, an imbalance between the production and the degradation of the extracellular matrix exist giving rise to a fibrogenic process of the organ.

  The main cause of the hepatic fibrogenesis is the chronic hepatitis, for some authors, this is caused by viral infections and for others, by alcohol and its last product the acetaldehyde. This one pathology causes insufficiency of a vital organ, reason why is important to know the cause and the structural changes with the purpose of preventing the disease and its complications, although at the moment there are promising experiments for the medical treatment of these patients, but it is necessary to continue investigating to improve the prognosis and quality of life of these patients.
