Juristenstand in historical research and the history of the legal profession in Germany.
The term "Juristenstand" was, in the first half of the 19* century, widely spread to denomínate people of academic legal learning. My monograph in French, which follows the seven generations of Germán jurists since 1800 up to now, proposes a historical sociology of the Germán lawyers and reflects the term "Juristenstand". This article presents the method and the results of my research. The term never coincided with any homogenous reality, but it helps to explain the successive configurations of the Germán legal profession
