  • The following analysis seeks to outline a development of changing approaches to literalizing the novelty of historical events. The Geschicht-Roman by Eberhard Werner Happel is an innovative experiment of Early Modern Literature, which aims to capture the events of a specific year in its volume. Nonetheless, this is achieved by localizing time and measuring novelty by the standard of mediated publicity. The Unterhaltungen deutscher Ausgewanderten, published roughly one hundred years later, show how literature now needs to develop new forms for processing historical change.
