Resumen de Soziale Bewegung auf der Bühne: zur Frage der Gegenwart in Christian Weises Masaniello
This article demonstrates how the socio-historic 'present' -- in the emphatic sense of a social change going on now and here -- is already existent in Christian Weise's tragedy Masaniello of 1682, but it is present only by the inherent force of its historical subject matter -- the revolt lead by Masaniello in Naples in 1647. Weise's poetic elaboration however, and thus the formal presentation of the tragedy, aims at re-integrating the radical new material in given topoi and traditions.
