    The archaeological pieces found in the deposit of l’Alcúdia were among the objects that entered the Royal Cabinet of Natural History (RGHN, Real Gabinete de Historia Natural) in the early years of this institution, but they did not remain there at a later stage. In this work we show the effort made by the Bourbon Monarchy to compile and preserve pieces, in this case, related to nature, by means of a mandate to its subjects, in the form of an Instruction. Firstly, we present a synthesis of the beginnings and the evolution of the RGHN. Then, we analyse the circumstances of the arrival of the mandate to Elx, and the fact that the city did not reply. Finally, we comment on the documentation referred to the arrival of the archaeological remains from l’Alcúdia to the Cabinet, and the delivery of some pieces that were, during a short period, part of the collection of the RGHN

    Les peces arqueològiques trobades al jaciment de L’Alcúdia arribaren a estar entre els objectes que tingueren entrada en el Reial Gabinet dʼHistò- ria Natural, en els primers anys d’aquesta institució, però posteriorment no hi romangueren. En aquest treball posem de manifest l’esforç que féu la corona borbònica per recopilar i conservar exemplars, en aquest cas, del món natural, per mitjà d’un manament als súbdits, en forma d’una Instrucción. Primerament fem una síntesi dels inicis i evolució del RGHN. Després, analitzarem les circumstàncies de l’arribada del manament a Elx i de la falta de resposta local. Per acabar, comentem la documentació referida a l’arribada de les restes de L’Alcúdia al gabinet, i el lliurament d’algunes peces que sí formaren part, per un breu període, de la col·lecció del RGHN.
