    En aquest article tractarem el conflicte del model de Mercat Central per a Elx. Aquest serà inclòs en una lluita més ampla al camp social del desenvolupament local, en què comencen a oposar-se dues opcions, una basada en el Creixement econòmic i altra en valors de sostenibilitat, identitat i participació. Començarem explicant els antecedents i bases de la Reforma del Mercat Central a Elx, seguirem definint el camp social del desenvolupament local a Elx arran del conflicte, i ens centrarem en els agents socials implicats i les accions dels dos bàndols enfrontats respecte a dita reforma, seguirem enfocant les oposicions argumentals i finalitzarem veient com aquests discursos tenen a veure amb els dos tipus de desenvolupament esmentats i l’actualitat comparativa d’aquesta lluita.

    In this article we will discuss about the conflict over the central market model for Elx. This fight will be included in a wider social field of local development, in which begin to oppose two options, one based on economic Growth and other on sustainability, identity and participation. We begin explaining the background and basis for the Reform of the Central Market in Elx. Then, we will define the social field of local development in Elx, focusing on social actors involved and protest actions of the two opposing sides regarding this reform. We will continue focusing on the discursive struggle of both. We will finish watching how these discourses are involved with the two types of development that we have told and we will talk about the comparative actuality of that struggle.
