    En 1925 el escultor colombiano Rómulo Rozo esculpió en piedra a la diosa Bachué, la madre poderosa de los Muiscas, inaugurando el arte indigenista colombiano que daría origen al "movimiento Bachué" (1920-1940) promotor del discurso sobre la identidad nacional. Este acto vanguardista que valora el mundo indígena y el pasado precolombiano, no solo revoluciona los cánones estéticos establecidos hasta entonces en la historia del arte nacional, sino que además, con el regreso a la primitivas fuerzas encarnadas en la diosa fundadora que salió de la laguna de Iguaque con su pequeño hijo-esposo para poblar los pueblos muiscas, resurge la madre imaginaria mestiza y se eclipsa la madre patria española a la que se le rendía culto hasta el momento.     In 1925 the sculptor Rómulo Rozo sculpted the goddess Bachué in stone, the almighty mother of the Muiscas, inaugurating in this way the indigenous Colombian art which would give rise to the 'Bachué movement' (1920- 1940). This artistic movement would be the developer of the discourse about the national identity. This avantgarde act values the indigenous world and the pre-Columbian past and revolutionises the existing aesthetic canons established until then in the history of the national art. Besides, the return of the primitive forces incarnated in the founder goddess that emerged from the waters in the Iguaque lagoon with her little son-husband to populate the muiscas towns; there reappears the imaginary mother, eclipsing the Spanish mother country which was worshiped until then. In the mythic story of Bachué the civilising mission of the god Bochica can be read in an unarticulated way and in the background.
