    En este artículo se presenta un panorama general sobre cómo los estudios de género ocupan un papel importante en la educación matemática.

    Las investigaciones en género y matemáticas han reportado diferencias significativas entre ni- ñas y niños, mujeres y hombres, sobre el desempeño, enseñanza y aprendizaje en matemáticas dentro de los diferentes niveles de educación. En México, este tipo de estudios aún no tienen relevancia lo cuál es un tema importante de analizar, ya que en otras comunidades como Australia, Estados Unidos o Inglaterra estos estudios toman interés a partir de los años 70´s.

    This article presentes an overview on how the gender studies occupy an important role in the mathematics education. The investigations in gender and mathematics have reported differences between boys and girls, men and women, on the performance, teaching and learning in mathematics within different levels of education.In Mexico, this type of studies has not yet been significant, which is an important issue to analyze, since in other countries such as Australia, United States or England these studies have been of interest since the 1970´s.
