Resumen de Hacer la Historia: Narraciones visuales de la violencia en América Latina

En los últimos años, cada vez más artistas se preocupan por integrar no sólo documentos históricos en sus obras –en general, vinculados a microhistorias– sino también una impronta histórica, incluso historiográfica, más amplia. Así, estos artistas buscan, mediante diversas estrategias formales, ‘hacer la historia’ en lugar de sólo crear ilustraciones de ésta con sus imágenes. Este artículo busca reflexionar sobre ese ‘hacer la historia’, que se sostiene también sobre el trabajo con la memoria, desde la práctica artística contemporánea a través del análisis de obras que abordan la violencia en América Latina. Se discutirán, en este sentido, obras en diferentes medios y formatos de los artistas Fernando Brito, Beatriz González y León Ferrari.

In recent years, more and more artists seek to integrate not only historical documents in their works –generally linked to micro-histories– but also a broader historical, even historiographical, imprint. Thus, through various formal strategies, these artists seek, to ‘make history’ instead of just creating illustrations of it through their images. This article seeks to reflect on this ‘making of history’, which is supported also through work carried out from memory, from contemporary artistic practices through the analysis of works that address violence in Latin America. In this context, we will be discussing works from different media and formats by artists Fernando Brito, Beatriz González and León Ferrari
