Resumen de El crecimiento económico en México y su relación con el turismo y medio ambiente (2003-2015)

  El esquema de crecimiento económico mexicano ha cambiado de forma significativa, el sector manufacturero que hasta hace un lustro se consideraba el motor de la economía nacional, para dar paso a otros sectores como el agropecuario y turístico, quienes presentan incrementos notables en su contribución al Producto Interno Bruto (PIB). La presente investigación, centra su análisis en señalar, por un lado, a la actividad turística como una alternativa para la generación de empleos y bienestar para la población y, por otra parte, el riesgo que la actividad turística representa en materia ecológica, si no se atiende en el corto y mediano plazo los costos por agotamiento de los recursos naturales y por degradación ambiental. Entre los principales resultados de esta investigación, se muestra una tendencia constante de crecimiento en la actividad turística de México, con una participación promedio de 8% respecto al PIB, así como, una disminución de los costos por agotamiento en el sector turismo derivado de la aplicación de política a favor del desarrollo turístico sustentable, no así de los costos por degradación ambiental que crecen al mismo ritmo que crece el PIB turístico.

  The pattern of Mexican economic growth has chan-ged significantly, the manufacturing sector that until last five years was considered the driving force of the national economy, to give way to other sectors such as agriculture and tourism, which show notable increases in its contribution to the Product Gross Do-mestic Product (GDP). The present research focuses its analysis on the one hand, the tourist activity as an alternative for the generation of jobs and welfare for the population and, on the other hand, the risk that the tourist activity represents in ecological matter, if the costs for depletion of natural resources and for environmental degradation are addressed in the short and medium term. Among the main results of this research, there is a constant trend of growth in tourism activity in Mexico, with an average participa-tion of 8% in relation to GDP, as well as a decrease in the costs due to depletion in the tourism sector derived from Policy implementation in favor of sus-tainable tourism development, but not the costs of environmental degradation that grow at the same pace as tourism GDP grows.
