    La revolución mexicana fue un tema popular en el cine internacional durante varias décadas, especialmente en la segunda mitad de los años sesenta y principios de los setenta del siglo xx, cuando en Italia se produjeron los llamados Zapata westerns. Recurriendo esencialmente a la información disponible en el internet, el artículo sitúa este fenómeno en la tradición fílmica y en el contexto de Zeitgeist político, marcado por la crítica anticapitalista, el surgimiento del tercer mundo, la guerra de Vietnam y las protestas estudiantiles.

    The Mexican Revolution was a popular topic in international filmmaking throughout various decades, especially in the second half of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s. This was the period when a lot of so-called Zapata westerns were made in Italy. Mainly based on information available on the Internet, this article seeks at placing this phenomenon in filmmaking traditions and in the context of the political Zeitgeist, which was marked by anti-capitalist criticism, the rise of the Third World, the Vietnam War, as well as student protests

    La révolution mexicaine fut un thème populaire du cinéma international durant plusieurs décennies, en particulier dans la seconde moitié des années 1960 et au début des années 1970, lorsque furent produits en Italie les « Zapata westerns ». Utilisant pour l’essentiel les informations disponibles sur internet, cet article pace ce phénomène dans la tradition filmique et dans le contexte de Zeitgeist politique, marqué par la critique anticapitaliste, l’apparition du tiersmonde, la guerre du Vietnam et les protestations estudiantines.
