The apostolic letters Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus and Mitis et Misericors Iesus have effected significant revisions in the procedure tribunals are to follow in resolving marriage nullity cases. This article identifies the most significant revisions in the law and explains the adjustments that tribunals will have to make in dealing with cases according to the “ordinary” process. It deals with changes in the organization and staffing of tribunals, tribunal competence, responsibility for the several steps of the introductory phase of the process, the weighing of evidence and appeals.
