La mujer sufragante en San Juan: reforma constitucional de 1878

    Las diferentes investigaciones en torno a la participación política de la mujer en la provincia de San Juan han centrado su análisis principalmente en el voto municipal bajo el gobierno de Domingo F. Sarmiento o en la reforma constitucional de Aldo Cantoni en 1927, pero no concretan un estudio sobre los orígenes del sufragio formal en la provincia y la experiencia política femenina durante el siglo XIX.

    Ante este panorama proponemos como objetivo principal de esta realizar un análisis histórico sobre la participación política de la mujer, en el ámbito municipal, hacia finales del siglo XIX, deteniéndonos particularmente en la reforma de la Constitución de San Juan de 1878. Nos centraremos en el análisis de dos secciones de dicha constitución, vital para comprender el inicio de la participación formal femenina en política y las limitaciones que la misma presentaba.

    Este trabajo se realizará desde el enfoque historiográfico de la Nueva Historia Política, con la que pretendemos adquirir nociones conceptuales y teóricas sobre política y ciudadanía y desde los Estudios de Género, campo que nos brinda las herramientas analíticas necesarias para analizar las relaciones sociales basadas en las diferencias existentes entre los sexos y sus relaciones de poder.

    Menester es aclarar que el mismo es parte de un proyecto en proceso y por ello brindaremos una presentación de la potencial investigación.

    The various research on the political participation of women in the province of San Juan has focused its analysis primarily on the municipal vote under the government of Domingo F. Sarmiento or constitutional reform Aldo Cantoni in 1927, but do not specify one study of the origins of the formal vote in the province and female political experience during the nineteenth century.

    Against this background we propose as the main objective of a historical analysis on the political participation of women at the municipal level, in the late nineteenth century, stopping particularly in the reform of the Constitution of San Juan de 1878.

    We will focus on analysis of two sections of this constitution, vital to understanding the beginning of women's formal participation in politics and the limitations that it presented.

    This work will be done from the historiographical approach of the New Political History, with which we intend to acquire conceptual and theoretical notions about politics and citizenship and from Gender Studies, a field that provides us with the necessary analytical tools to analyze social relations based on differences between the sexes and power relations.

    It is necessary to clarify that it is part of an ongoing project and therefore will provide a presentation of the research potential.
